History.

I have designed Kornel about 12 years ago as an assignment at The Academy of Fine Arts in Wroclaw, Poland (Product Design Course). Our assignment was to design a unique wall clock that will stand out.

The idea of a corner clock was crazy and created a lot of practical problems I had to overcome.

The biggest problem was fixing the clock to the wall or actually the corner of the room. This is the main reason why you have never seen a corner clock sold in shops to this date. Designers who might have attempted to come up with corner clocks failed to design a simple fixing solution.

My take on it was to design: Elastic Core Tensioning System™. It is an elastic cord that I run through three attachments mounted permanently to the rear of the clock base. Then the cord is stretched from three sides of the triangular shape of the clock and attached to one hook that is fixed to either left or right wall or to the celling. The tension of the elastic cord pulls the clock base towards the core point on which the hook is fixed.
That keeps the corner clock where it should be and there is no way the clock will ever fall down on the floor. ( Watch the video how to fix the clock. )

The next challenge to overcome was to find the way to access the Elastic Core Tensioning System™ in an easy way. To do so I have decided to create a ‘Magnetolid™‘ a detachable clock face that allowed me an easy access to the. Magnetolid™ has two magnets attached to the back of the clock face so in order to change the battery of the clock or to access the base of the clock all you need to do is to remove the lid.

I have decided to secure the Magnetolid™ with Clock Face Anti Drop Protection™. A thin rope attached to the clock base. In case you are trying to change the battery you can be sure it want drop on the floor.

The final challenge I had was to find matching clock hands. It was a mission to find ready made clock hands that were either too small or too tacky. I have decided to make my own hand crafted clock hands which adds a lot to the uniqueness of this product that I am really proud of!

Today twelve years later I have means to deliver this product to the market and with just one click of your mouse it can be yours.
